15,000 kilogrammes of chili powder seized
The Consumer Affairs Authority has seized 15,000 kilograms of chili
powder which was not suitable for consumption, from a chilly grinding
mill in the Sedawatta area in Wellampitiya.
The raid was conducted following a complaint received by the ministry of co-operatives and internal trade.
A
Consumer Affairs Authority official who was engaged in raid informed us
that while various ingredients including rice flour had been mixed to
the chili powder to increase the weight, colouring had been used as
well.
